所研制的三级液压机车落轮检修装置主要包括液压传动系统和机电操控系统。设计的关键点在于：采用三级液压和具有中位截止功能的三位四通电磁阀的控制，来实现不同工位检修；采用机电操控小车是为满足落轮承载与移位车间加工检修的不同需要；升降落轮平台采用手动换向阀或电控换向阀两种操作方式，既方便又可靠；三级液压的每级油缸均设置限位装置，以防止实际使用中由于某级油缸的变形而引发柱塞不能按顺序伸出，甚至导致从整体脱出发生事故等。该装置可实现机车落轮检修的机械化和满足不同工位作业的准确性，具有性能可靠与工作效率高的特点；另外，检修装置的落轮接触工作表面采用溅射镀膜涂覆耐磨涂层，有效地提高了设备的使用寿命。
