郑观应是中国近代著名的思想家和实业家，在国门洞开、主权日削、利源外泄的大变局中，为了维护国家主权，挽回利权，促使中外在平等友好的基础上进行交流，郑观应逐渐萌发了处理中外交涉的涉外法律思想。围绕着主权、利权、人权，提出了一系列涉外法律原则主张和实施建议，初步形成了比较系统的涉外法律思想。它体现了中国近代法律意识的觉醒，是传统中国社会向近代社会转化的重要标志之一。

Zheng Guanying was a famous thinker and entrepreneur in modern China. In the turbu lent situations, the door of China was opened by force, national sovereignty weakened, and people's benefit drained. To contact and co-operate with foreign countries on the basis of equality and friend- ship, thoughts of foreign-related laws germinated slowly in his mind. Around the sovereignty, eco- nomic rights, human rights, a series of rules and initiatives were proposed, and general systematic thoughts of foreign-related laws were initially formed, which, as a sign of transition from Chinese tra ditional society to modern society, reflected the awakening of law consciousness in modern China.
