This review summarizes the different preparation methods of electro-spun Polyimide (PI) nanofibers and their advantages and disadvantages, and the modifcations aimed at improving its mechanical properties, thermal stability and other properties, the potential applications of PI nanofibers are briefly overviewed. It shows that the key to obtaining high-performance PI nanofibers by one-step method is looking for suitable solvent, meanwhile, the thermal stability and mechanical properties can be improved via modification control.
