Due to the centrifugal pump working principle and characteristics, the mode of on - off operation of the pump unit usually is directly starts the asynchronous motor, opening valve and the pump starts, closing valve the pump stops. The operation mode generates large vibration to the unit and supporting hydraulic mechanical device. In this paper, the starting mode of the pump unit is optimized with the goal of reduce the vibration according to the actual operation situation of a major water supply pumping station's centrifugal Dump unit.
