中医内科学是中医临床医学的核心课程。随着人口老龄化，中国人的死亡疾病谱从常见病多发病逐渐转移到难治性老年性疾病，因此，中医内科学知识结构需要进行调整和补充。将“十二五”规划教材《中医内科学》与既往7个版本进行了比较，举例式介绍了本版教材在疾病分类、病名取舍、病证定义、辨证施治等方面的编写特点；即脏腑分类，脑病独立章程；求本溯源，心病改为胸痹；以象识病，重订病证定义；病证结合，梳理辨证论证。

Chinese internal medicine is a kennel course of Chinese clinical medicine. As aging of population, Chinese spectrum of death and diseases has turned from common diseases to refractory and senile diseases. Therefore, the knowledge structure of Chinese internal medicine should be regulated and supplemented. The authors compared the planned textbook of 12th five-year plan-Chinese Internal Medicine with other 7 editions, and introduced the compiling characteristics from disease classification, disease names, disease and syndrome definition, and syndrome differentiation and treatment by giving examples, such as separating chapter of cerebral diseases, changing cardiac diseases as chest impediment, reordering disease and syndrome definition, and regulating syndrome differentiation and treatment.
