To classify the reason of the leakage of liquid ammonia systematically, draw the fault tree diagram of the leakage of liquid ammonia. By analyzing the structure importance, minimal cut sets and minimal path sets, we can conclude: the main cause for the leakage of liquid ammonia is human error and administrative defect, draw the feasible methods of preventing the leakage of liquid ammonia, and then improve work standards of safety. Results of the evaluation have the active guidance meaning to the liquid ammonia enterprise on making security decision or reducing safety loophole.
