The research and application of greenways theory in city has a distinct base of landscape ecology. This paper is based on understanding the basic theory of greenway and domestic and international overview of research and practice on greenway. To explore the eco-design approach on greenway, and summarizing the ecological signification and the prospect of the planning construction of greenways in cities of China.
