美国华裔女作家谭恩美,以其为数不多的几部作品享誉美国文坛。《喜福会》讲述了四对移民妈妈和她们在美国成长的女儿间的故事,深入探讨了出生在不同文化背景下的母女关系以及东西方文化间的冲突与融合。本文从多角度地探讨了小说中反映的冲突主题,分别从语言特点,价值观和人生观三个方面分析了小说中＂冲突＂这一主题。两代母女最终实现互相理解,诠释了人们只有理解和尊重对方的文化并善于沟通才会和谐相处。

The Joy luck Club is a story about four groups of immigrant mothers and their American - raised daughters, which probes deeply into the relationship between mothers and daughters in different culture backgrounds, cultural conflicts and blending between the East and West. This thesis comprehensively discusses the theme of conflict in the novel. The thesis introduces Amy Tan' s life story, her debut novel The Joy Luck Club, and the development of Chinese American literature. Then, It analyzes the main topic of conflict from three points of view--languages, values and philosophy of life. It also explains that two generations of mothers and daughters can achieve mutual understanding and estabhsh harmonious relationship only when people from different cultures are ready to understand and respect the other' s culture and communicate well.
