西部普通高校在发展层次上明显滞后于东部、中部等发达地区，且面临教育资源的先天不足。以此作为探究问题的基点。西部普通高校传统专业培养出的学生，便成为检验西部地方高校汉语言文学专业发展水平的一项重要指标。本文拟结合绵阳师范学院文学院汉语言文学专业在培养学生核心竞争力的实践经验，具体分析怎样才能从根本上建好传统专业，以及如何在新形势下培养学生在专业能力方面的核心竞争力。

The Western colleges in the level of development lag far behind the development areas in the eastern and central parts of China and face the inherent shortage of educational resources. Thus, taking it as the exploring base, students who are cultivated through the traditional majors of Western colleges have become an important indicator to test the professional development level of the Chinese language and literature in Western colleges. Based on practical experience of fostering students" core competence in Chinese language and literature school of Mianyang Normal University, this paper gives a specific analysis on how to build traditional majors and cultivate students'core competence of professional abilit- under the current new develoning trend.
