The economic transformation is the inevitable choice for resource -based cities to achieve sustainable development .This paper taken Tan-gshan City as an example and studied a variety of issues in the economic development of resource -based cities , focusing on the problem of path depend-ence.The economic transition path for the resource -based cities were discussed .
