恩格斯在评价卡尔。格律恩和斐迪南。拉萨尔著作的文章里提出评价历史人物和文艺作品的“最高标准”,即“美学”和“历史”观点的辩证统一。依据“最高标准”,在进行文学批评时,既要关注文艺作品本身,以美学价值(内部因素)为评价尺度;又要考虑文学作品的具体时代,以历史价值(外部因素)为评价标准。中国现代文学课程教学的核心内容是现代作家作品分析、文学史叙事以及现代文学史学史批评。作为文艺批评的重要理论之一,恩格斯的“最高标准”无疑对中国现代文学课程教学具有指导和方法论意义。

In the articles of commenting Karl Grun and Ferdinand Lassalle's works, Engels proposed the basic principle, name-ly the highest standard of praising historical figures and literary works, which is dialectical unity of aesthetic viewpoint and his-torical viewpoint. According to the highest standard, in literary criticism, we should not only pay close attention to the works it-self by taking the aesthetic value(inner element) as standard, but consider the times of the works by taking the historical value (outer element)as standard as well. The core contents of the teaching in Chinese modern literature are the analysis of works, the narration of its history, and the criticism of historical narration. As an important theory of artistic criticism, the highest stan-dard of Engels is very instructive in the teaching of Chinese modern literature history undoubtedly
