A method of transplantation and optimization of the H.264 encoder i.e. x264 encoder, based on. the TI TMS320DM3730 is proposed. The basic'principles and the problems might be considered in the process of the transplantation based on the CCS4.2 development platform are described in detail. To improve the encoding speed, the x264 encoder is specifically optimized in accordance with the structural characteristics of TMS320DM3730, with the help of the compiler optimization, the memory optimization, code optimizations at both C language level and the assembly language level. Experimental results show that, for the video sequences with CIF format, although the SNR is slightly reduced, the encoding speed of the optimized x264 encoder is significantly improved, and hence higher encoding efficiency can be achieved.
