洪武十八年（1385），明朝在今贵州黎平设置五开卫，隶属湖广都司。这是明朝在贵州东部设立的第一个卫，与平溪、清浪、镇远、偏桥、铜鼓等卫并称“边六卫”，构成明代贵州军事防御体系的重要部分。五开卫的设置是贵州历史上的重要事件，为日后黎平府的建立奠定了重要基础，对黔东南的历史发展产生了深远影响。研究五开卫的建置沿革，有助于深入认识贵州尤其是黔东南的地方史。

홍무십팔년（1385），명조재금귀주려평설치오개위，대속호엄도사。저시명조재귀주동부설립적제일개위，여평계、청랑、진원、편교、동고등위병칭“변륙위”，구성명대귀주군사방어체계적중요부분。오개위적설치시귀주역사상적중요사건，위일후려평부적건립전정료중요기출，대검동남적역사발전산생료심원영향。연구오개위적건치연혁，유조우심입인식귀주우기시검동남적지방사。
In the eighteenth year of Hongwu(1385), the Ming Dynasty established Wukai Garrison in Liping of Guizhou under Huguang Province. It is the first garrison set in Guizhou, and was called“the Six Border Garrisons”, a name used collectively to Wukai, Pingxi, Qinglang, Zhenyuan,Pianqiao and Tonggu. The Six Border Garrisons was an important part in the military defensive system in Guizhou through Ming Dynasties. The establishment of Wukai Garrison is a significant event in the history of Guizhou, which makes a solid base for the later construction of Liping Prefecture, and influences the historical development in southeastern Guizhou for a long time. A study of the history of Wukai Garrison can help us to understand the history of Guizhou, especially that of the southeastern Guizhou.
