The advantages and disadvantages of direct mixing ,thermic reduction and molten salt e-lectrolytic methods,which were used to prepare Al -Sc master alloy,were compared.The progress of preparing Al-Sc master alloy by molten salt electrolysis was discussed .To realize its applica-tion,the development effort should concentrate on the fundamental research and the engineering -o-riented technique based on the Hall -Héroult molten electrolysis .
