The Pelotas birth cohort study is one of the largest and longest running birth cohorts in the developing countries .The content of the study is quite extensive , including maternal and child health , reasons for the increasing of caesarean section rate , breastfeeding and its influencing factors , the social inequality of health and the factors of chronic diseases .The study demonstrates dynamic trends in maternal and child health in different social stratum over time .It is better for us to understand the accessibility and utilization of health care , and to provide reliable guidance for health policy formulation in developing countries .
