in 2013, Liaoning province Fushun area suffered the heaviest storm flood in the last 1 000 years, causing heavy losses. Field research and questionnaires were adopted to conduct an in-depth study of the causes of this heavy rain and flood disaster, the benefits from flood control engineering was summarized and the existing problems were identified in flood control work. Accordingly, and sugges-tions were put forward for the future flood management and disaster prevention and mitigation work.
