Language and culture are inextricably interwoven. Discussions about whether language is the central element of cul-ture have been on for decades but still inconclusive. This paper first discusses why language is unique to humans and what on earth culture is;and then three arguments are advanced to prove that language is the core of culture :language leads to the emer-gence of culture;language carries cultural information;and language organizes human thinking.
