With the aggrandizement scale of software system,the application of policy management technology is becoming more and more popular. In the policy management framework proposed by IETF Group,there're four important elements:policy repository,policy management tool,policy decision point and policy enforcement point. However, the variety of policy representation forms usually leads to interoperability and manageability problems between the elements dealing with and exchanging policies. The use of XML technologies just provides a good solution for this limitation. This paper studies the policy management framework based on XML technology,including policy architecture,policy representation form and implementation of policy communication protocol,which is of directive significance to future work.
