This paper presents the experiment of melting low-carbon stainless steel with the VOD & VD smelting process and ladles of low carbon magnesia -carbon brick lining , analyzes and discuses the effect of low carbon magnesia-carbon brick on the smelting process .Ladle refining furnace of low carbon magnesia -carbon brick lining can smelt the stainless steel of C ≤0.06% by using the VD process and can smelt stainless steel of C ≤0.04% by using VOD process .
