孔孟儒家提出了“成人”教育理念，并可将其含义界定为：人文化成，即通过教育完善人的个体，关注个体发展，重视个体的精神人格，培养美好品德，使人成为真正的人和完全的人。孔子最早提出“成人”教育理念，后孟子继承并进一步深化，从而使得儒家“成人”教育理念既一脉相承又各有区别。二圣致力于教育和教学活动，从而使得此教育理念具有深厚的理论基础，且具有相应内涵，为后世教育提供思考源泉。
공맹유가제출료“성인”교육이념，병가장기함의계정위：인문화성，즉통과교육완선인적개체，관주개체발전，중시개체적정신인격，배양미호품덕，사인성위진정적인화완전적인。공자최조제출“성인”교육이념，후맹자계승병진일보심화，종이사득유가“성인”교육이념기일맥상승우각유구별。이골치력우교육화교학활동，종이사득차교육이념구유심후적이론기출，차구유상응내함，위후세교육제공사고원천。
Confucius and Mencius initially proposed the philosophy of growing up education ,which held that a man can be per-fect through education .It concerns individual development , pays attention to the spiritual personality of man .Confucius proposed the philosophy of growing up education firstly , then Mencius inherited and further develop that idea .The two great men devoted their life to the education and teaching activities , making this educational philosophy a strong theoretical foundation and provide more possibilities for future think about this educational philosophy .
