植物矮化是一种重要的农艺性状，适度矮化能使作物增产，而目前我国主要种植的蓖麻品种植株本身偏高、产量低、抗性差，矮杆蓖麻可以弥补以上缺点．根据基因沉默理论发展起来的RNA干扰技术是近几年应用于植物中的一种新方法，也是创造蓖麻矮化种质资源的有效途径之一，在农业上具有较高的应用价值．
