The technological principle, process flow and characteristics of activated coke desulphurization technology used for tail gas treatment of sulphuric acid plant in Guixi Smelter Jiangxi Copper Corporation are introduced. The problems occurring in production were analyzed in detail and the corresponding improvement measures were taken. Failure rate of the desulphurization plant was lowered through improvement. SO2 concentration in tail gas was lower than 300 mg/m3, which corresponded to a decrease in SO2 emissions of about 613. 413 t/a. The environmental benefits were significant.
