《教堂塔尖》是英国作家威廉·戈尔丁的第五部小说,西方学界对《教堂塔尖》的＂人性恶＂主题进行了较为深入的研究,而对乔斯林的心理发展则有所忽略。本文应用拉康的主体三层结构理论对小说主要人物乔斯林进行分析,深入探讨戈尔丁小说中人物形象的文化内涵。同时,也证明了拉康主体理论的有效性。

The Spire is British writer William Golding' s fifth novel. Western scholars have deeply studied its "evil human nature" theme, but they greatly neglected Joeelin' s psychological development. The thesis applies Lacan' s three orders theory to analyse the main character--Jocelin in the work. In doing so, we can explain more clearly the cultural connotation of the protagonists in William Golding' s works. In the mean-while, we can know better the validity of Lacanian subject theory.
