License plate recognition is one of the critical techniques in Intelligence Traffic System,and its performance is affected by license plate segmentation algorithm.This paper proposes a new license plate segmentation method based on waveform detection and color space.It overcomes the draws caused by threshold choice in traditional edge detection framework,and is robust to lightness and corrupted license plate,and therefore improves the license plate segmentation accuracy.
