This paper introduces the structure,the work processes and the advantages of the microcomputer-based governor system in Shuibuya hydropower plant,especially introduces the cross-redundant fault-tolerant mechanism,the switching among operation modes and the voting mechanism by show of hands in applications of the STARS governor system.By analyzing the five-year operation conditions of the system in Shuibuya hydropower plant,the governor system is objectively evaluated,and the work needs to improve is pointed out and their solutions are discussed.
