JPEG ( Joint Photographic Experts Group )作为一个基本的图像压缩方式,已经得到了广泛的运用。而FPGA具有的并行计算特点,使得越来越多的设备利用FPGA对jpeg文件进行编解码。从整体上介绍JPEG编解码的基本算法,并着重介绍了在DCT和Huffman两个模块中使用的方法。在DCT/IDCT模块中,为了提高处理速度,充分利用FPGA并行处理的特点。对于Huff-man解码模块,采用附加码位宽的查找表方法,并利用综合工具将查找表综合到片内存储器中这一特点来减少资源。

JPEG ( Joint Photographic Experts Group ) , as a basic way of image compression , has been widely used .There are more and more devices processing jpeg files based on FPGA since its parallel processing feature .This paper provides a whole view of the JPEG encoding and decoding and gives out more attention to the DCT/IDCT and Huffman modules .In the DCT/IDCT module , thanks to the parallel processing of the FPGA , the improvement of processing speed can be achieved; as in the Huffman module , additional code length is used , and it costs less resource as the FPGA synthesis tool put the looking up table into the memory within the chip .
