随着国际文化交流的深入,将中国经典文化介绍到西方世界的典籍翻译研究越来越受到人们重视。以译者主体性为研究角度,对《孙子兵法》这部军事领域的重要著作进行个案研究。《孙子兵法》自1772年被首次介绍到西方社会,它已经被翻译成了十多种文字。在近一百年中,中外译者出版了大约有十五个不同的译本。本文所选择的两个英文文本分别是由翟理斯和中国译者林戊荪所著的。经对比译文本,发现了其各具特色。对差异的原因进行分析后,本文认为译者在整个翻译过程中发挥其主体性作用,在选择文本、阐释文本、制定翻译策略原则,以及确定译文语言的表达形式和技巧这四个方面发挥了举足轻重的作用。作者期望借助译者主体性的理论视野,对于《孙子兵法》的译文的分析能够做到具有科学性、逻辑性,并能反映出各译文的特点论明翻译中的内涵及其原因。

With deep communication of international cultures,the classics translations are attached great importance for its purpose of introduction of Chinese cultures to western worlds.The paper studies classics translation from the perspective of translators' subjectivity,using translations of the Art of War as case study,which is of great importance in military field,which has enormous impact overall the world.Since it was first introduced to the western world in 1772,there are more than fifteen versions in different languages.The English translations are completed by both foreign and Chinese translators during the late one hundred years.This thesis chose two English translations given respectively by Giles and Lin Wusun.By comparisons of two translations,a great many divergences are shown,along with the reasons causing these differences.To some extent,the translators play the subjective role in the following four aspects during the translation process: choosing original text,interpreting original text,determining translating strategy and deciding expressions and techniques.With the help of a new theoretical angle——translator' s subjectivity,the analysis on the translations of the Art of War hopes to be scientific and logical and reflect the main features of these translations as well as account for the essence of the translation and reasons behind the translation process.
