    This paper has introduced the principle, types and characteristics of membrane separation technology, and summarized briefly the technology application in heavy metal wastewater treatment,especially in electroplating waste water, textile waste water and the iron and steel industry wastewater. In addition, it has analyzed and looked to the future the development trend of membrane separation technology.
