This paper introduced the relationship between ammonia nitrogen and eutrophication of water and the removal of ammonia nitrogen by bioremediation beginning with nitrification .We explained the efficacy of nitrifying bacteria by degradating and converting ammonia nitrogen to remit eutrophication,to suppress the overgrowth of alga and purify water. From above all,we emphasized the negative role of ammonia nitrogen to boost eutrophication and the positive biodegradation of it by nitrifying bacteria. The article summed up the progress related nitrifying bacteria at home and abroad aiming to supply some basic theories for the further study of dislodging of ammonia nitrogen by biological method in eutrophic sewage.
