The moisture in the lubricant oil can not only do a lot of damage to the oil quality and lubricanting ability, but also corrode the mechanical equipment. In this paper, three kinds of moisture existence forms in the lubricant oil were summarized. The source, hazard and detection methods of moisture were introduced. It’s pointed out that the quick detection methods including infrared detection and on-line detection are fashionable detection methods of moisture content in the lubricant oil.
