Objective To analyze the clinical effect and safety of Oxycodone Hydrochloride on elderly patients with cancer pain. Methods Ninty-six elderly patients with advanced cancer pain hospitalized between December 2011 and December 2012 were selected and divided into two groups, 48 patients in each group. The observation group was given Oxycodone hydro-chloride retard-20 tablet analgesia, and the control group was treated by Morphine Sulfate Controlled-release Tablets-20 tablet analgesia. After 8 weeks’ treatment, the analgesic effect, medicine dose and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment, no significant difference was found in VAS score between the two groups (P>0.05). After 8 weeks’ treatment, the VAS scores of two groups both significantly decreased, but there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The average medicine dose, save dose and adverse reactions in the observation group were all evidently less than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Oxycodone Hydrochloride Controlled-release Tablets had equal analgesic effect as Morphine Sulfate Controlled-release Tablets, but with less dosage and adverse reactions, so it had a better clinical value.
