Specific construction measures in low temperature for water conservancy and hydropower projects in the cold regions of Northeast China, Northwest China and China's Tibet are introduced, such as aggregate preparation, concrete transportation, concrete pouring and concrete curing. The winter construction methods for mass concrete in the former Soviet Union and some countries in North America are also involved. The engineering practices show that the following construction measures can make the concrete in low temperature satisfactorily grow and the construction quality achieves the design criteria: rational selection of temperature control standards, severe restriction of heat loss, combined grouting procedures of tent heating method and comprehensive thermos method, and utilization of new materials to strengthen the surface curing of concrete.
