The knowledge about photochemical smog and its formation mechanism were summarized.The develop-ment of monitoring photochemical smog all over the world was introduced as well.The focuses of researching photo-chemical smog were pointed out.The parameters of photochemical smog monitoring were explored based on the cur-rent status of the development of monitoring level.The practical suggestions were put forward on strengthening the research and monitoring on photochemical smog.
