学术大师是天赋与汗水的共生体。独立的人格与自由的思想乃学术大师的共性，也是他们最根本的精神与文化特质。学术大师的降世与经济文化的发展大体是平衡的，但也有不平衡现象。学术大师代表民族的高雅文化与文化水准，学术明星则体现文化的普及深度与广度。若世无学术大师，则社会之文化必低俗；世无学术明星，则社会文化生活沉寂。世人期待学术明星不只为自己准确定位，而且期待他们各自提升品位，希望他们在人品上与学术大师并肩辉煌。

The academic masters come into being with their talent and sweat. Independent personality and unre-stricted thinking are the commonness for all the academic masters and are their fundamental spirit and cultural trait. The appearance of academic masters, generally, keeps pace with the social economic and cultural devel-opment levels, but sometimes there are unbalanced phenomena. The difference between the academic masters and academic stars lies in that the academic masters stand for the national elegant culture and the cultural level while the academic stars incarnate the depth and width of the national culture popularization. The society would be vulgar in culture without the academic masters, whereas the society would be dreary in culture with-out the academic stars. It is hoped that the academic masters and stars will go side by side in one society, which shows that the national culture of a society is in a prosperous state.
