The paper discussed secondary voltage constraints of submerged arc furnace including transformer capacity, equipment reactance, equipment resistance, power factor, the relationship between electrical efficiency and secondary voltage, material properties and the effect of burden resistance for secondary voltage. Different ferroalloy species had different secondary voltage. Adding reactive compensation capacitor device can effectively improve system power factor.
