The current problems in the detection of underwater reef and the possible solutions have been explored , and a new set of detector which employs the rate of penetration ( ROP) has been developed as the assessment index for rock consistency .And after many penetration tests , the fast comparative assessment method for the rock consistency and a new application is developed for the detector of underwater reef .Furthermore , the technical characteristics , performance , and test and application results of the new de-tector are introduced .Those equipment , test results and experience from the practical application are of referential values for the ef -ficiency , accuracy and adaptability of underwater reef detection .
