The title compound,2-amino-2-(2-methoxypyridin-5-yl)ethanol,is an important pharmaceutical intermediate. In this pa-per,the compound was synthesized by a 7 steps reaction using 2-methoxypyridine-5-carboxylic acid as the raw material. The yield of each reaction step and the total yield was higher than 78%and 23%,respectively. The purity of the final product was greater than 98. 5%.
