为了应对煤炭资源后备不足的现状，对于煤炭资源的勘探，我国加大了深部找煤及矿区外围找煤的力度，地震勘探作为地球物理勘探中一种重要的方法，在找煤、石油、天燃气等方面有着广泛的应用。本文用一个实例介绍了地震勘探在深部找煤中的具体方法及取得的地质效果。
