“老子天下第一”之“老子”，意有三层：父亲、自称、思想家老子。以我国周时的“天下观”为背景，从学理上对思想家的“老子”可称“天下第一”详加推究，不仅“老子”二字的汉字学意义表达了这样的思想，就是老子的名与字：“耳”与“聃”，也表达了这样的思想。当然，更重要的是，不仅我国先秦各派哲学的主要思想来源于老子，就是历代的多数学者，特别是老子的著名学生孔子也是如此认为的。
“노자천하제일”지“노자”，의유삼층：부친、자칭、사상가노자。이아국주시적“천하관”위배경，종학리상대사상가적“노자”가칭“천하제일”상가추구，불부“노자”이자적한자학의의표체료저양적사상，취시노자적명여자：“이”여“담”，야표체료저양적사상。당연，경중요적시，불부아국선진각파철학적주요사상래원우노자，취시역대적다수학자，특별시노자적저명학생공자야시여차인위적。
"One"has three meanings in the sentence"One Regards Oneself as the No.1 Authority in the World", such as father, calling oneself, and the thinker Lao-tzu. It is seemingly reasonable and logical to conduct a research on why considering Lao-tzu as No.1 in the world on aspect of academic principle with the concept of world. The meaning of characters Lao Zi expresses the same, but Lao-tzu's surname and given name also conveys the same meaning. Surely, what's more important, the main thought of pre Qin phi-losophies stems from Lao-tzu, but also most scholars in all ages consider the same especially Lao-tzu's famous student Confucius.
