This study presents the feasibility of the ecological water allocation in Yantai Basin of Ningbo City. A numerical model was constructed based on the physical characteristics of the water course system in the basin, and alternate water allocation schemes were simulated using this numerical model. The results were evaluated using a set of criteria, and the most effective scheme was chosen as operation scheme. This study demonstrates that water quality and ecological conditions of the Yantai Basin can be significantly improved by using ecological water allocation schemes.
