书法在中国一般特指为汉字的书写艺术，然而东巴文字书法和汉字却有着一定的联系：这种文字比甲骨文更古老，还可能是同源，在早期都用于宗教活动。但当今的东巴文字书法创作却存在着明显的问题，且处于起步阶段，汉字书法中魏碑艺术自然、稚拙、生动的特点和其产生于民间，通过字体结构的生拙趣味、刀刻石痕和风化剥蚀的沧桑漫漶感形成了一种新的审美趣味，东巴文字的特点与此相合，可从魏碑中学习这种趣味并用于书法创作中。

Calligraphy commonly features in the writing art of Chinese characors.Dongba Pictograpic Words found in Lijiang may share the same origin and function ,both served for religious activities, with Chinese charactors, but boasted of a longer history than it,in another word,it is much older than oracle inscriptions.The creation of Dongba Pictograpic Words is still at its beginning.However,calligraphy engraved on stele in Wei Dynasty is already a combination of its unique beauty of naturalism, originality,and liveliness , a long history,as well as a record of numerous historic stories. Thus I hold to the firm conviction that we can develop the art of writing in Dongba Pictograpic Words through learning from calligraphy engraved on stele in Wei Dynasty.
