Describes the physical structure and the sensing principle of chirped fiber Bragg grating(CFBG),in-troducing a reference grating,the author realizes sensing signal demodulation of CFBG by using light intensity modulation.The strain and temperature sensing properties of CFBG were tested and the test data shows that the linear coefficient of the fitting curves of strain and temperature sensing properties were 0.9991 and 0.9989, which shows that CFBG has eminent strain and temperature sensing properties.In order to solve the problem that measurement accuracy of long-term monitoring was affected by light attenuation,the author proposes a new demodulation algorithm based on the intensity ratio and does some experimental validations for it.Test re-sults showed that the method can greatly improve the long-term detection accuracy of CFBG and also can realize the automatic temperature compensation.
