Design methods of protection against lightning for super high-rise buildings are introduced in detail according to protection against lightning theories and specification clause for buildings in combination with practical engineering project of Guangzhou International Finance Center ( Guangzhou West Tower). Protection against lightning class determined according to a lightning risk assessment report, and measures for protection against direct lightning, side lightning and protection against lightning electromagnetic impulse are also proposed, and matters in design of protection against lightning for super high-rise buildings are prompted. Proved by thunderstorms over the years, the design of protection against lightning for Guangzhou West Tower is advanced, reasonable and reliable.
