The paper introduces the development situation of electrical storage water heaters in the domestic market and the present application of the electric leakage protection technology. It shows the design principle of a new solution of electric leakage protection for electric storage water heaters. Simultaneously,it also describes the design parameters,structural design of the electric leakage protection switch,as well as the comparison between the new solution and the old ones. The technology of the electric leakage protection switch has a simple structure and with a similar cost as the old ones, its combination with a three poles leakage protection plug has a more reliable safety performance. Therefore,the new solution has significant market promotion value.
