Demotivation is regarded as the “dark side”of motivation in second language acquisition.As an integral part of motivation study,demotivation draws more and more attention in second or foreign lan-guage learning during the past two decades.This paper reviews the empirical studies of demotivation by classifying these studies into two groups according to the different language learning levels of the partici-pants.
