民主教育的理论研究和实践伴随着民主的浪潮席卷全球，一直很火热；但是民主实践的合理，不代表民主教育实践是合理的，更不代表当今中国民主教育实践也是合理的。在缺少现代民主传统的中国社会，一味提倡实践民主教育难以取得实效。一方面，民主有价值和制度两个维度，西方的现代民主并非适合中国的民主。这两个维度下的中国式民主，到底是什么？目前还只是若隐若现的影子，未见得实在的面目；另一方面，现代民主教育属于一座空中楼阁，更准确说是一个海市蜃楼。它可以装入一切精神、修养、价值观念，但是任何一种又都不属于它。教育还是要回归人的本质，回应人的本质要求，有了道德修养、自由精神、理性思考等等，民主教育的目的自然会达到。

Democracy education theory research and practice sweep across the globe and become increasingly a hot subject following the democratic tide. However, the reasonable democratic practice does not mean the democracy education practice is reasonable, nor is today's practice of Chinese democracy education reasonable. In the Chinese society lack of modern democratic traditions, it is difficult to obtain actual effect if people blindly advocate the practice of democracy education. On the one hand, democracy has two dimensions, i.e. value and system, the western modern democracy is not suitable for China's democracy. What on earth is the Chinese style democracy under these two dimensions? At present, it is an indistinct shadow only and its real face has not been seen yet. On the other hand, modern democracy education belongs to a castle in the air, more accurately, a mirage. It can accommodate all spirits, cultures and values but neither of them belongs to it. Education should return to the essence of man and respond to the essential demands of human being. If people own the moral integrity, free spirit, rational thinking and so on, the purpose of democracy education can be achieved naturally.
