In the industrial and mining enterprises, the consumed reactive power of asynchronous motor is about 70%, which causes low power factor and larger line loss. In this paper, the reactive power variation during operation of asynchronous motor is analyzed in order to solve such problem of the enterprise as power factor and line loss and the method of calculating local reactive power compensation capacity of the asynchronous motor is given. It is shown by the efficiency analysis of the local reactive power compensation of asynchronous motor that the local compensation of asynchronous motor is a economic, simple, reliable and high efficient reactive power compensation method.
