Mitochondrial DNA as an ideal genetic marker has been successfully used in the research of evolutionary biology and population ge-netics deer .This article was aimed at discussing the structure and feature of mtDNA in deer .Furthermore ,emphasis was put on the applications in the fields of systematic evolution ,identification and differentiation ,phylogeography ,genetic diversity .
