Lipases have been widely used in oil chemicals,food industry,organic synthesis and biodiesel industry,etc. Protein engineering was used to modify the lipase on a molecular level,for examples,improving the activity,stability and other catalytic properties of lipases. This article reviewed the concepts of protein engineering and the discovery examples of novel lipases and their variants by protein engineering.
