For TD-SCDMA networks covering the expressway, appling high gain antennas can extend cells’ coverage, improved the co-located percentage of base stations, and reduced cost of network construction. On the other hand, regarding to the roads existing frequent handover, adopting the cell merging technique can decrease handover times and promote the coverage continuity of TD-SCDMA networks in the expressway. Furthermore, using cell merging will result in better customer perception such as quality of voice and download rates, higher carrier effi ciency and less construction cost.
